Vendor Almanac

Methodology

How the numbers on this site get here, and what they mean.

Where the facts come from

Every fact starts on the vendor's own public page and arrives with three things attached: the value, the URL it came from, and the date it was read. We screenshot the pricing page at the same time. Those three travel with the fact for as long as it is published.

Prices come from the vendor and nowhere else. Review sites and aggregators are guessing, and their guesses are usually old.

Reading a page

The small [src] after a value links to the page it came from. The date beside it is the day someone looked. Anything marked unknown is a fact we have not verified — treat it as a gap in our research, not a gap in the product.

Prices appear in the vendor's own terms. A per-technician rate stays a per-technician rate; "contact sales" stays "contact sales". Where a vendor publishes a small unit price over a larger minimum, the figure we lead with is the minimum, because that is what you would actually pay.

Keeping it current

Every price is re-checked against the vendor's live pages monthly. Each page carries the date of its last check, and says so plainly when that check is overdue. A vendor can change a price the day after we look — which is why the date sits next to the number, at the same size.

When sources disagree

The vendor's current pricing page wins. Where the difference is material and we cannot resolve it, we publish the conflict. The screenshots let us show what a page said on the day we read it, which matters when a vendor's page contradicts itself or goes stale.

Features

Every product in a category is scored against the same 18-item checklist, so the columns compare. Support reads as yes, partial, add-on, no, or unknown.

What this site is not

A review site. There are no ratings, no testimonials, and no winners — a comparison page sets the researched facts side by side and stops. Nothing here is paid placement.

Corrections

Tell us and we will fix it: hello@vendoralmanac.com. Send the page and the correct value, with a public source if you have one. Vendor employees and buyers who were quoted something different are equally welcome. We re-verify against the live page and update both the fact and its date.
